MOM-A-THON

I have to tell you all about my mother's day. Many years ago, the kids started a tradition of doing a "Mom-A-Thon". This is a whole day of mom's favorites. Each year is different on how the day plays out.

This year, I was not allowed to come downstairs until almost 10am. Ana, Keli and Ronnie had been putting together the surprise. When I was allowed to come downstairs I found white roses woven around the banisters. Continuing down the front hall there were construction paper garlands hung in the doorways. In the family room there was a poster that said "We Love You Mom". I thought that was great.

It got better, I then was escorted through the living room (more posters and garland) and into the dining room. The kids had cooked scrambled eggs, bacon and french toast. They did a great job. After breakfast, I was escorted to the family room where we sat down to watch some episodes of Gilmore girls. I know it was Mother's Day, but I had to get laundry done. So I got up to do laundry. I still felt it was a great Mother's day, even with laundry.

It gets better, I went to the washroom and let out a gasp. The kids started laughing, they knew what they had done....They cleaned the washroom! I think that was the best part. I know it's silly, but I swear laundry is the vain of my existence. I just thought that was super cool. The kids put a lot of thought and effort into making this a special day. Who knew, laundry would put it over the top for me :)

The rest of the day was nice as well. I heard from seven of the nine kids. The two I didn't hear from, I understand why and I love them always. Jeff cooked dinner which we enjoyed with Rene, Kire, Ana, Keli, Ronnie and Julie (Jeff'mom). Dakota came by later and delivered something from Amanda. Then the performances...Ana played the flute, Keli sang and Rene read a poem. Ana tried to get Ronnie to read a poem but he isn't much for the performing arts. Almost forgot, even Mattie (our dog) sang along. Smiles and laughter were abundant.

It was truly a great, peaceful and loving day! Thank you to everyone who made me feel so special!
