Usually the performances are held at one of the high schools after the 4th of July parade. This year they did it a little different and added a performance at SafeHaven. What a wonderful idea it was to involve community service with this volunteer band. It is a small hospital without an auditorium. The staff cleared a section of the parking lot where the students set up and then a section for the residents/patients.
This is a picture of the residents and spectators that were there to watch the concert.
One of the songs was done as a tribute to the veteran's that were in attendance. The kids in the band who are standing are doing so to represent their family members who have served our country in any of the armed forces. Ana is playing the flute in the front row. She is the second one standing from the right. Ana was excited because she represented three branches of the armed forces with her family-Army, Navy and Air.
This is the entire summer band group. They did an excellent job!
Thank you to all of those members of our armed forces who protect our country and provide us our freedoms. More specifically, I appreciate my grandfathers, uncle, aunt, father and brother who have all served during war time to help protect our country. The sacrifice they all have made is greater than anyone who is not in the service can ever comprehend. On a more local level, I also appreciate my two brothers who serve as police officers to ensure our peace and freedoms in the areas where my family lives. It takes the combined efforts of local, county, state and federal agencies to help ensure our freedoms. Thank you for your combined efforts!
