Blogs I follow

There are a several blogs that I like to check out a couple times a week. Some are just friends and family, just to keep up with the lives of people I care about but don't have the opportunity to see very often. I recently added a girl I went to high school to my list of blogs to peruse. Lynne and I were in Chorus all through high school and middle school together and several other school groups/clubs along the way. I always knew her as being very intelligent and she had a beautiful voice. The blog has helped me get to know her more through her writing and her baking. Her blog is 365 Days of Baking. I have really enjoyed seeing the things she cooks and she lists the recipes with them so I can give it a whirl myself. I haven't yet but there are a few that she has posted that are on my list to try. Another one I like to check out is done by my step-daughter Amanda, her mom and their friends. They have some cute crafts and recipes as well. Her blog is The Paisley Cupcake. (You can click on the name of the links and it will bring you to their blogs)

I don't have a lot of time for crafts but I enjoy it when I can. Last night I had the opportunity to drag out my crafty side while at Young Women's. We made journals using composition notebooks and scraps of fabric. Ana couldn't go to Young Women's last night because she was playing in the Pep Band at last night's district basketball game. So, I made the journal for her because she writes in her journals faithfully and couldn't be there to make one for herself. Here is a picture of the creation!

Ana loved the journal! It was covered in fabric that was all music and embellished with decorations in Highland colors (black and red). I even made the coiled fabric flower. I made the black and white polka dot ribbon go around the book and Velcro in the front. I also added a black ribbon book mark which is also attached to the cover.

Thanks to all of you who help stir-up my creative side and inspire me to want to do more.
