Last Day

Tomorrow is the last day that I get to have this view from my car.

I was selected to be "Employee of the Month" for March 2011. It totally blew me away. They told me in February that I was selected for March. Interestingly enough, literally the week before they told me this I was seriously questioning my career path. I had just finished W2s and was finishing quarterlies and was sooooo frustrated with trying to resolve some errors I found. I was just tired of dealing with taxes and state and federal filings. I also joked at the time that it was nice that they selected me when they did because I was sure no one would want me as employee of the month after March-due to the changes I was about to help initiate with everyone's timecards.

March began an upgrade to an electronic timekeeping system. The county has been using paper timecards forever! This has not been an easy tranisition for some. Right now we are in the process of transmitting our first payroll with the new timecards and it seems to be going well so far. I think the reluctant employees are coming around and for those who aren't - oh well. There are certain things you have to do for a paycheck, that includes getting your timecard in.

Becoming employee of the month allowed me to park in literally the best parking spot at the courthouse. It is right next to one of the entrances. This was so awesome because I am forever running late. Keedrin and I did alot of trainings with departments in March so this parking spot came in handy as we had to go to the off-site departments. We never had to worry about where to park when we returned to the court house. I also received a gift certificate to Mama Inez and a free bag of popcorn. There is a popcorn fundraiser every Friday after pay day and that is where I got the free bag. Totally awesome since I lOOOOVVVVVEEEEE popcorn! The only downside to this was writing a blurb about me for the employee newsletter. I would think it would be easier after starting this blog, it wasn't.

Anyways, Goodbye oh great parking space. I have loved having the sweetest spot at the courthouse!
